EMCo Systems Solutions, Inc. has been working with UC, State Schools and Junior Colleges on Renewable Energy Projects, improving thermal efficiencies and energy conservation projects.
EMCo wants to hear from UC, CA State School & Junior College Students!
EMCo will also give away gift certificates, ipads and CASH!
The more we hear, the bigger the opportunities!
There will be monthly selections for prizes!
We are encouraging students to let us know about their "GREEN Stories" so they can be posted on Green Up America. EMCo will be randomly selecting letters from our future...the Student Body. In addition to posting the letters, EMCo will be rewarding selected students and their respective schools with GREEN technology opportunities. EMCo will also give away gift certificates, ipads and CASH!
The more we hear, the bigger the opportunities!
There will be monthly selections for prizes!
*Opportunities may include:
- The installation of a an ElectraTherm GREEN Machine for schools with sufficient Waste Heat.
- A VORTISAND High-Efficiency Water Filter for a one-time closed water loop system cleanup.
- A permanent VORTISAND installation for a cooling tower system.
- A 250 kW Micro-turbine for on site power generation to support minimum base line loads.
Please be sure to include your name, school, email address, age and story. Email entries to students@emcosystems.net
Please keep the entries to 1,500 words or less.
Tell us more...What is your school doing? Your Home Town? Your favorite restaurant? Your favorite teacher? What are the coolest GREEN projects on campus?
Consider this a little friendly competition between the schools where everyone is a winner!
Below is a letter from an intern who also is a student at UC Merced.
By Dmitri Medvedko, Student
UC Merced
I still don’t completely understand what sustainability is, I can’t visualize it. Hopefully the interaction between the idea and its proponents will yield something beautiful, like a plant cell, maintaining order in a world that is prone towards chaos and doing so efficiently, with minimal losses. No man made facility to this day operates near this standard. Our society operates roughly at 40% efficiency and I find that disgusting. I didn’t always find it disgusting. In fact, I used to not care.
Months before I stood up in front of ASUCM Senate and talked about bridging the gap between sustainable behaviors, technologies and end users, I began an internship with EMCo. This was my first collision with sustainability. I was measuring the world in terms of waste heat, wasted water and I began looking around and noticing how much waste there really is. Virtually every action leaves a carbon footprint. Every elevator ride, every car ride, every packaged good purchased burns energy, emits greenhouse gas, or leaves landfill waste.
In order for a community not to burn energy, emit greenhouse gases or leave landfill waste, a behavioral as well as a technological change must occur. Unfortunately, there exists a huge gap between those with green technologies, those with the appropriate behavior, and those who do not care and need both.
I found myself in an interesting position being an intern for EMCo, a member of the Associated Students of UC Merced and Green Campus. These organizations have technologies, funding or know how when it comes to implementing technological or behavioral change. Utilizing these organizations at UC Merced can lead towards the fulfillment of our universities’ “triple net zero” commitment and the produce the first modern, fully sustainable system. Nothing is accomplished instantly and as a member of ASUCM I have been devoting my time to consolidating activism for sustainability on campus under one larger campaign. Once campus wide attitude has changed, our university should become more susceptible to technological updates and more advanced eco friendly behavior.
*Conditions will apply. Not every Campus will be a candidate for these opportunities. Sufficient System characteristics must be met. Power generation to be sold through a PPA to the end user(s). Agency approvals, installation labor and other factors/terms TBD at EMCo's discretion.
